b) Welsh Athletics are holding an Extraordinary General Meeting on 14 January to receive and adopt

the accounts for the 12 months ending March 2011 with the accountants reports.

c) Welsh Athletics have appointed Scott Simpson as National Performance Coach and Dave Goodger

d)  A UKA forum on the UK Development League 2013 will be held in Cardiff on 1^st February, with a

video link to North Wales (according to the WA General Council minutes). However, the WA

website says that we will have our own meeting in North Wales to discuss this hotly controversial

a)  Welsh Athletics Meritorious Service Awards have been presented to Reg Burke & Charles Ashley

at Queensway last Saturday, and to Frank Williams, last Wednesday at the Club Committee meeting.

b)  At the last Club Committee meeting it was decided to make nominations for the Wrexham CB

Sports Awards which will be held on 23 February 2012 at Brymbo Sports Complex. The following

names will be put forward : Matthew Williams (Junior Sportsperson); Amanda Wale (Senior Sport);

Sue Rogers (Service); Chloe Jones (Jun.Vol); Lesley Edwards (Sen.Vol); Mike Robbins (Coach);

a)  Emma Parry has been selected for the Wales team competing in the Marrakech Half Marathon on

29 January 2012.

b)  The North Wales Indoor Champs will be held at Deeside on Sunday 15 January 2012. The facilities

have been declared fit for competition by UKA, but will not have a UKA licence, therefore athletes

performances will not be ratified for Powerof10 etc.

c)  Welsh Road Champs 2012 : Cardiff 5k (4 March); Caernarfon 10k (2 Sept); Llandudno 10m (10 June);

Cardiff Half Marathon (14 Oct); London Marathon (22 April); Road Relays (Llandow 25 March).

Interesting to note that although not everyone can get into the London Marathon, it is again a Welsh

Champs despite the Great Welsh Marathon being held in Llanelli on 15 April!! Oh, and the Welsh

The club has now been honoured to receive the UKA Club ‘Partnership’ Award  2011 for its close

liaison with Wrexham County Borough Council. The award was presented to our Club Chairman,

David Alun Williams, by the UKA President, Lynn Davies CBE,  at the UK Athletics Awards 2011 evening last Saturday at the Park Plaza Hotel, Westminster, London and was sponsored by Aviva.

The awards evening celebrated British Athletics and recognised the voluntary workforce with awards to Club, Coach, Volunteer, Official, and Partnership of the Year. To win the award we had to overcome competition from Oxford and Glasgow following our triumph at the Welsh Athletics Awards.

a) At the Welsh Athletics AGM last weekend, nominations for Meritorious Service Awards were considered and 3 of our members ie.Reg Burke (Coach), Frank Williams (Treasurer), & Charles Ashley (Fell Running Secretary) will now receive these awards at a future date. In addition George Tudor will receive the award for his work with the North Wales Cross Country Association.

b) Colin Edwards will be continuing with the Hurdles Coaching sessions (U13/U15/U17) now at Ysgol Rhosnesni on Thurdays from 5 to 6pm commencing on Thurs.3^rd November.
